All Things Cellular

For the last little while I have been teaching a cell unit to my 5th graders.  Its been interesting and I think they have liked it.  The best part of the whole thing was the cell models.  They were supposed to create a 3D model of a cell and present it to the class.  They had NO clue what to do when I first explained the assignment, so I took Michael's suggestion and made one out of Jell-o and candy.  {he made one like that in school}  My students thought it was great.  So on the day it was due what did I have... 15 cells made out of Jell-o.  I guess they are still learning how to be creative.  These are a few of my favorite.  {They are also some of the most original} They all did a really great job!

Be Mine

First i have to start with my "school valentines day".  At the beginning of the week my students started asking if we were doing Valentine Boxes this year.  I asked what they were and they explained that they were boxes that you create in order to collect all of your Valentines.  So I said, "Yes go ahead and make them then bring them on Friday."  I never gave it a second thought until my students started coming to class with these creations.

A robot as tall as me

A cash register

A hippo with a tutu

Once again my students were so sweet and gave me plenty of treats.  When I finally went to my desk at the end of the day this is what I found.

The next day {on the actual day} Michael and I decided to go out to breakfast instead of dinner.  That way we miss all the crowds!  We went to Maglebys, it was delicious!

We woke up to this.

We exchanged cards in Target.

I could not have asked for a better day!  Hope you all had a great Valentines day!

Birthday

My birthday was forever ago, but Michael made it such a great day that I had to post something about it.  Michael made me breakfast and sent me on a treasure hunt to find the gifts that his parents had mailed.  After that... he said, "So do you want my present for you?"  I told him that I wanted to wait until that night but he was so excited to give it to me that he just couldn't wait!  So he snuck into our closet and came out with a nice winter jacket.  The whole time I have lived in Utah I have not had a nice winter jacket.  I was so surprised and excited!  He is so sweet.

That night we went out to dinner at Red Robin {yum} Later that night the door bell rang and in walks two of Michael's old roommates.  I looked at him and he said, "I invited a few people over. I forgot to tell you."  Well the few people turned into everyone I know in Provo, old roommates and friends, and a lot of couples from our ward.  It was so crazy.  We stayed up really late talking with all of our friends, but it was WONDERFUL!  Thank you Michael!
